DG Mention On NBC!
Hey y'all,

I recorded last night's episode of Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip on NBC and watched it tonight while I was eating dinner (an hour and a half or so ago). Anyway, towards the end of the show, Matthew Perry's character mentioned Delta Gamma! I thought it was awesome and I just wanted to share...

The context of the conversation was an actor on the show complaining about his ex-girlfriend and Matthew Perry says "She's a doctor; she went to college for ten years; she doesn't want to be competing for your attention with the girls of Delta Gamma!"

Hoorah for DG! :)

DGs in D.C.
Hey ladies!

I just graduated from the University of Maryland this May and got involved in the DG Maryland Suburban Alumnae chapter.

On Thursday, October 19th from 7-8:30pm, we are meeting at the Cosi in Bethesda. If you are new to the area, this is a great time to meet new people in a very cool area... Bethesda is very much a young professionals town, esp. in the evenings at all the bars. :o)

I personally would love to meet more DGs and hope some of you in the area see this and come. If you have never been to Bethesda and want to, here are directions and address (if you need to MapQuest it from your location) to the Cosi in Bethesda:

Cosi in Bethesda
7251 Woodmont Avenue
Bethesda, MD 20814
Phone: 301-652-6098

It's the first exit, on your left, off of 459-East from 270-South, clearly marked BETHESDA (I'm not 100% from other directions, so mapquest it!). You will merge and go past some houses on your left and a Marriott on your right, crossing over Pooks Hill Road. The private school Stone Ridge will appear on your left. Directly after that is the National Naval Medical Center on your left and the National Institute of Health (NIH) on your right. Go past those institutions for about half a mile, staying towards the right lane. You will see a sign welcoming you to Bethesda over a small hill. You will see an "exit ramp" which becomes Woodmont Avenue on your right that you will take. Keep going straight and right after Hampden Lane, you will see Cosi! If you've hit Elm Street, you've gone too far.

There will be "Definitely Delta Gamma" balloons, so you will know who the group of DGs are.

I REALLY hope a bunch of you come. It's your chance to explore a really great part of the D.C. Metro area and/or meet new people. If you know a DG in this area, no matter the age, encourage them to come.

If you have questions, just post a comment to this or on my LiveJournal. Hope to see you there!

DG Icon!
Hey y'all...I made a DG icon! It's the one I have as my user icon on this entry...I'm going to go back and edit it in a second to include it in this entry (once I post it so I can get the IMG SRC code for it--I don't have a paid account!). Enjoy!

Oh, and if for some reason it looks fuzzy on your computer, try right-clicking it and selecting "Show original image." I don't know why but my computer tends to fuzz up pictures, but sometimes that helps to clear them up.

Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to stop by and say hello! I volunteered at the airport and hotel this week for Convention in Orlando and wanted to say how awesome it was to see so many Dee Gees in one place. Sometimes you forget how HUGE Delta Gamma is worldwide so it was a pretty cool thing to see and be a part of. I have never been to Convention before and after this week I have decided I have to go wherever it is in two years and really make an experience out of it. Anyway, I hope you all are having a great summer and those of you in town are having a great experience!

Hey- I don't know if anyone watches the Colbert Report of Comedy Central, but last night he announced that he was a Delta Gamma! His announcement went something like this, "It's an old garland-hanging injury, back from my frat days... I was a Delta Gamma." I know hes joking but yay for the shout-out!

Parent's Weekend
Hey Dg girls!
Our chapter (eta theta at SLU) just had parents weekend, and it didn't go as well as I would have liked activity wise. Do any of ya'll have activities that you did on parent's weekend that really worked out well? We live in the city, so a lot of things are accesible. Any ideas will help out for making our next parents weekend the best it can be!

Thanks and ITB,

soooo ... i think i know who i'm going to ask for as a big sis (i know we get five choices i'm not sure who i'll ask for as the other four yet,) but she's not even my anchor pal! she is really one of the sweetest girls in our chapter, and reminds me a lot of one of my best friends who moved to north carolina for college, and, coincidentally, she has the same name.

Would anyone happen to know what happened to the DG house at UCF? Apparently they had one at one point in time and lost it. The two or three I have asked about it gave vague answers ... perhaps it was taboo of me to ask, being a new member and all. maybe they really don't know.

i can't help but wonder.

Hey all!

I'm interested in joining the Delta Gamma chapter at my school (American University) this year but I'm really nervous about! Are there any tips you experienced sisters could give me or is that not allowed? Thank you!

To all my sisters...
Came across this in My Space. This one goes out to all of you wonderful ladies that have been passed up for a mediocre apple...

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the
Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are
falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just take the rotten apples
ground that aren't as good, but easy.

The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in
they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come
one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

Share this with other women who are good apples, even those who have
been picked!!

Now Men . . . Men are like a fine wine.
They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of
until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

points system
hi girls!

my chapter is going to start using a "points system" where sisters get points for participation/attendance/etc. sisters with certain numbers of points will get rewarded for their dedication throughout the semester. does anybody have any experience with this? we're meeting in a couple of days to put things together and i'm not really sure where to begin. what sorts of things would you give points for?

thanks :)
